Wendi's Shs240b question: can a SACCO wallet turn deposits into credit?

Three years ago, Wendi was pitched as a plumbing fix: a way for the then PostBank Uganda, working with MTN, to move Parish Development Model money to beneficiaries digitally rather than in cash. Today it is something larger. According to figures Pearl Bank provided to Publicist East Africa, balances held on the wallet rose from Shs45.5b in 2024 to Shs240.5b at the end of 2025 — more than five times the previous year's level — and close to 11,000 SACCOs have been onboarded.
