Cooperatives in Social Development: Report of the UN Secretary-General (A/80/168)

Every two years the UN Secretary-General reports to the General Assembly on cooperatives. This 2025 report, issued during the International Year of Cooperatives and ahead of the Second World Summit for Social Development, sets out policies that help cooperatives contribute to the SDGs. It calls on cooperatives to strengthen democratic governance, invest in member education and widen partnerships. It recommends that governments reform cooperative laws, include cooperatives in national development plans and support them through budgets, training and market access. These arguments apply directly to Uganda's reform debates. Original source: https://digitallibrary.un.org/record/4087029
