Overview of Cooperatives in Uganda (MTIC presentation)
This slide presentation by a senior cooperative officer at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives gives a short history of Uganda's movement. It starts with the Kinuakulya Growers, who marketed crops together in 1913 and the Buganda Growers Association of 1920, and covers colonial-era restrictions on lending to African farmers. It then moves through the movement's growth, decline and revival, with notes on structure and current challenges. It works well as background for new board members, students and journalists who want the long view before reading the law and policy documents.
