Guidance Notes to the Co-operative Principles (International Co-operative Alliance)
The ICA's Principles Committee wrote these notes, a detailed commentary on how to apply each of the seven cooperative principles in practice. They cover voluntary and open membership, democratic member control, member economic participation, autonomy and independence, education, cooperation among cooperatives, and concern for community. Each principle is set out with its key concepts and practical guidance for boards, managers and regulators. The notes are the standard reference when a society asks whether a rule or practice is truly cooperative.
